This will require you to read, analyze, and put forward your own opinion concerning what Kristof discusses.
For this essay, follow the outline below.
Introduction Paragraph: This will include a hook that engages a reader to look at your essay and then will be followed by a short summary of Kristof’s main argument and what he discusses. Your introduction will end with a thesis statement that puts forward what you will discus and what you will say about Kristof’s essay.
The thesis will answer the question: “How does Kristof build his ethos in his essay? How does his writing affect his credibility”. The thesis will bring forward at least 2 ideas, methods, or pieces of information concerning how Kristof builds his personal credibility. The thesis will state whether or not you believe he has good credibility or ethos based on these items. Why or why not?
Body paragraphs: Your body paragraphs will focus on at least 2 different writing strategies that you feel Kristof is using to try and build credibility or connect with his audience. Then evaluate whether or not this actually builds his ethos. Describe why this does or doesn’t build credibility. This should be an argument that focuses on proving your ideas on his essay.
Body 3: Repeat the process for Body 1 with a second rhetorical device.
Body 4: Repeat the process for Body 2 with the second rhetorical device.
You may include a third device. If you do, then repeat the paragraph pattern above.
Conclusion Paragraph: Wrap up the essay by summarizing why Kristof in your opinion does or does not have good ethos/credibility. End the essay by discussing briefly what the reader should do with Kristof’s information based on your evaluation of his ideas and credibility .
