Help me study for my History class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

The Assignment:

The study of history lends itself to understanding the present, and we can sometimes gain clearer perspective by looking at change that occurs between two points in time. Additionally, much of what we study in the past comes from news and media accounts, so we will look at current news to compare with the past, looking for continuity and change.
